According to the Gulfport Police Department, a teenager is in critical condition after a shooting on October 7.
At approximately 3:38 p.m., officers were patrolling near Ohio Avenue and Indiana Avenue when they heard multiple gunshots.
Officers headed toward the gunshots where they discovered a juvenile victim who had been shot.
Another officer observed a vehicle, occupied by three individuals, fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle crashed into a ditch and three suspects exited the vehicle.
The officer engaged one armed suspect who then dropped his rifle and fled on foot with a second suspect.
One of the suspects was taken into custody on scene. The two suspects that fled were later located and arrested without incident.
The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Charges will be forthcoming.
