Suspect Denied Bond After Two Teenagers Shot at Park in Tupelo

18-year-old Alijah Richey was arrested after a shooting at Theron Nickels Park in Tupelo on September 15 that injured two teenagers. One teenager was shot, and another teenager was grazed by a bullet.
According to the Tupelo Police Department, another suspect was also detained in the shooting, but he is a juvenile and is not being identified due to his age.
Richey was denied bond Thursday. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault; Shooting Into a Motor Vehicle.
The Tupelo Police Department stated,

“They continue to work with our neighborhood groups, local leaders and mentors asking any who have an influence with our youth to guide them away from these deadly confrontations. Local citizens, victims and TPD recently partnered on a public safety video showing firsthand how these senseless acts can destroy lives and families.”We continue to ask all parents, teachers, and preachers to help to put a stop to this cycle of violence that some of our youths are in.”
