Fire departments in Sunflower County battled a large blaze over the weekend.
Early Sunday morning, firefighters from the Sunflower Volunteer Fire Department were alerted for a residential structure fire in the 200 block of North Cliff Finch Avenue. Firefighters encountered a well-involved two story structure, along with an automobile on fire and an exposure under threat.
Additional manpower from the Moorhead and Linn-Steiner-Roundaway volunteer fire departments and the Sunflower County Fire Coordinator’s office responded.
Following the knockdown of the fire, firefighters deployed a drone with thermal sensors to help identify hot spots that remained in the structure.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
