On arrival, firefighters reported heavy smoke showing. One resident had been rescued by neighbors just before firefighters arrived. Fire officers immediately requested MedStat EMS to respond to the scene. Firefighters mounted an interior attack on the fire, which was controlled quickly.
The resident was treated on scene and later transferred to a regional burn center by University of Mississippi Medical Center’s AirCare 1.
The fire will be investigated by the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office.
