On May 13, a report was made with the Tupelo Police Department in reference to an embezzlement from the Sprint Mart on Deer Park Road.
Management from the business stated that an employee had embezzled over $1,600 worth of lottery tickets from the business.
On May 15, 2024, after further investigation, 24-year-old Shamaya M. Buchanan (from Tupelo) was charged with one count of Embezzlement.
On May 16, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Buchanan to be held on a $5,000 bond. This case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
