Two inmates escaped from MDOC transport in Meridian Wednesday morning.
One was recaptured. WTOK reports that the two were being moved for a court appearance.
Meridian Police, the Lauderdale Sheriff’s Department, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections are working together to find the inmate.
WTOK reports that Ryan Young was serving 40 years for burglary and theft in Claiborne County. He was sentenced in 2015 and had a tentative release date of October 2051.
He was reported to be wearing a yellow MDOC jumpsuit. A drone was used in the search, which included the area of 7th Street and 35th Avenue.
Authorities were searching in the area of 7th Street and 34 Ave. area in Meridian.
Young escaped from custody back in 2017 when he was being held at Parchman.
