A man has been arrested and charged in the double homicide of an elderly Meridian couple.
According to Meridian media reports, Maurice Christie was charged with two counts of capital murder as well as 3 counts of possession of controlled substances on the brutal slayings of Miles and Ina Herrington on April 25.
A judge denied Christie’s bond and he will stay in Lauderdale County jail to await the grand jury.
Meridian Police Department and first responders responded to a home invasion on Thursday near the intersection of 36th Avenue and North Hills Street.
According to The Scotty Ray Report, two people were found dead inside. They were identified by Coroner Stella McMahan as Miles and Ina Herrington, 97 and 94, respectively.
