A suspect is dead in Richland after authorities said she took a hostage at Walmart and was shot by police.
Multiple agencies converged at the store after what police were at first describing as a “weapon related incident.“
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said in a release that the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. Officials said a woman with a gun was involved, but details surrounding the shooting have not been released.
A video posted to Facebook from inside the store showed a disheveled woman holding a Walmart cashier by the arm as she brandished a gun and demanded to speak with a news anchor.
The scene was secured shortly after the shooting and Walmart was evacuated and closed for the evening.
This is a developing story.
