A Pelahatchie woman was sentenced to 120 months in prison for arranging a murder-for-hire plot.

40-year-old Jessica Leeann Sledge was sentenced by United States District Judge Carlton W. Reeves on Monday. Her sentence included a fine of $1,000 and a term of three years of supervised release following her release from prison.

Sledge admitted that between September and November of 2021, she used her cell phone and the “Whatsapp” application to arrange a murder-for-hire. What she didn’t know, was that the “hitman” she hired was actually an FBI Special Agent.

On November 1, 2021, Sledge met in Brandon, Mississippi, with the hitman she hired, to pay him and provide information concerning her victim.

Instead, the intended victim was never harmed, and Sledge was arrested and admitted to what she did.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Deputy Criminal Chief Dave Fulcher prosecuted the case.
