Just after midnight Friday morning, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Hwy 16 east near Vaughn Road in Yazoo County.
A 2009 Ford Focus driven by Shirley Williams, 37, of Canton, traveling westbound when the vehicle collided with pedestrian Robert Hamil, 27, also of Canton. According to MHP, Hamil was standing in the roadway on Hwy 16.
Hamil received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
