According to the Yazoo County Sheriff, a deputy in Mississippi has been charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Sheriff McCoy said that on July 5th, at 6:20 a.m., deputies were called about a young girl in a vehicle with a man.

The 13-year-old was in a vehicle with a 20-year-old man.

Deputies spoke with the two in the car and then the parents of the teenage girl.

20-year-old Jontavis Lane was arrested and charged with statutory rape.

24-year-old deputy Jerquarius Carter was arrested and charged with statutory rape.

The Sheriff said this is still an ongoing investigation and no other details are available at this time.
