On November 29, Pearl Police Detectives arrested a man responsible for the sexual assault of a minor.

Lavarias Sherod Chaffee, 30, of Pearl, is being charged with one count of Sexual Battery under 14 years old, one count of Gratification of Lust, one count of Kidnapping, one count of Child Pornography, and one count of Child Exploitation

In early November Pearl Police detectives began conducting a sexual assault investigation involving several juveniles within the city limits.

Throughout the investigation, detectives identified the suspect mentioned above involved in the sexual assault. The male was arrested, charged, and transported to the Rankin County Jail.

This case is an ongoing investigation, and more charges are expected to be brought forth. It will be presented to the Rankin County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
