One Person Arrested After High Speed Chase, Crash In Meridian

According to WTOK, one person was arrested after a high-speed chase in Meridian.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol chased a stolen silver Nissan Rogue from the Drury Inn. The chase started around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

WTOK reports that the chase reached speeds of 125 mph. The suspect drove on I-20 westbound towards Meridian.

MHP, the Meridian Police Department, and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department all helped in the chase.

It finally ended when the suspect hit a power pole just off 27th Avenue and St. Luke Street. The vehicle and power pole were damaged.

The suspect tried to get out and run but was quickly arrested by responding officers.

“Mississippi Power and the fire department were called in and Mississippi Power is currently fixing the damaged power pole,” said Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Jameka Moore. “We currently are unsure of the identity of the suspect and we are working to identify him now.”
