According to WLBT, a shooting at a stoplight in Holmes County left one person dead.

Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said the passenger in the car was killed. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

WLBT reports that the incident took place on Highway 17 heading north into Lexington around 8 p.m.

The area where the shooting happened is known as “Balance Due.”

Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said there were several different calibers of gunshots found.

He also said that one of the gunmen was standing on the side of the road. He told WLBT, “like he was just waiting for that car.”

The victims were both from Holmes County and were driving a black Dodge Charger.
