One Arrested After Man Walks Into Lee County Store With Gunshot Wound

A man is in custody after a shooting in Lee County.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, on September 19, around 7:00 p.m. officers received a call for service on Cr 931 of a fight.
Simultaneously, another call was received from a store clerk at North Auburn Grocery that a white male had entered the store and had been shot.
Deputies arrived at both locations and began to secure the scene and gather any information pertaining to the incident.
It was reported an argument took place between the victim and the property owner, who was identified as 56-year-old Darryl Smith.
During the argument, Smith fired numerous shots and one struck the victim. Mr. Smith was detained and transported to Lee Co. Jail for further investigation for the charge of aggravated assault. He is also being charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
