JACKSON — Mississippi organizations working to address the damage caused by the opioid epidemic can begin preparing to apply for funding through the state’s 2026 Opioid Settlement Fund grant cycle.
Attorney General Lynn Fitch, on behalf of the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council, announced Monday that updated grant materials are now available through her office and a new online portal for prospective applicants.
Applications will be accepted online from Aug. 31 through Oct. 5.
“There are so many great organizations across Mississippi doing innovative and exciting things to help our State recover from the harm the opioid epidemic caused,” Fitch said. “We have brought hundreds of millions of dollars to Mississippi and we encourage any organizations with programs or services that might be eligible to review these updated resources and learn more about how to apply and help Mississippi heal.”
The new grant portal includes the 2026 Request for Grant Applications, a scoring rubric, template memoranda of understanding and information outlining what applicants will need to submit.
The materials also explain the application process, how proposals will be evaluated, post-award requirements and the timeline for submission, review and approval.
The Attorney General’s Office has contracted with The Steadman Group/NiVACK Group to help administer the grant program. The groups will provide technical assistance to applicants, including through two webinars during the application period.
The webinars are scheduled for September 15 from 2 to 3 p.m., and September 23 from 1 to 2 p.m.
The Mississippi Legislature established the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council in 2025 to make recommendations for spending money received through opioid settlements.
Mississippi is expected to receive approximately $400 million over 18 years from settlements with more than a dozen opioid manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retail pharmacies and marketers following litigation pursued by the Attorney General’s Office.
Fitch chairs the 37-member advisory council.
During the first grant cycle in 2025, the council received nearly 130 applications, and the Legislature approved $60.68 million in appropriations from the fund.
As of June 16, 2026, the Opioid Settlement Fund had a balance of approximately $111.47 million.
