GREENVILLE – Greenville police have identified a man whose body was found wrapped in a tarp and burned near Thornton Street last month.
The Greenville Police Department said officers responded July 21 to the 1500 block of Thornton Street after a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body along the roadway.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased person who appeared to have been wrapped in a tarp and burned.
Police have now identified the victim as Robert Elliott of Greenville.
Investigators are continuing to process evidence and follow leads as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding Elliott’s death.
Police are asking anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, or who may have information about the case, to come forward.
