According to WLOX, two parents were arrested and charged with Child Abuse.
On Thursday, 23-year-old Christina Kay Hanshew and 28-year-old Adam Robert Shores made appearances in court for multiple charges of child abuse and neglect.
WLOX reports that according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the couple were arrested Wednesday at the Child Protective Services office.
An investigation was opened into the two in December of 2022 when a babysitter brought a 2-month-old infant to the Singing River Hospital Emergency Room. The baby was showing signs of malnourishment and neglect.
Investigators found that there were five other children in the home with similar signs of neglect. CPS was called.
Hanshew and Shores are being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center without bond.
