According to KPLC, a 28-year-old woman from Ethel Mississippi, and her two daughters (ages 7 and 8) died in an apparent drowning.

They drowned in the Gulf off of Long Beach Road.

KPLC reports that the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office received the call around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities found three deceased victims, as well as a 9-year-old boy who was pulled from the water and airlifted to the hospital. He is listed in critical condition. A neighbor also found a 3-year-old boy walking on the beach by a neighbor.

KPLC reports that, according to Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett, the child told a neighbor his mom went swimming.

That is when the search started.

The family is from Ethel, and the father was working at Golden Pass LNG.

According to the report, the family has not been identified. Their bodies were recovered from the water along the breakwater rocks.

Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson said conditions of the water at the beach Sunday afternoon were rough and not good for swimming and the family was not wearing life jackets.
