UPDATE: The escaped inmate is back in custody. He was captured on the side of Hwy 61.

According to the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Department, an inmate has escaped from the Wilkinson County Community Work Center in Woodville.
Christopher Diaz is described as a white male, 5’6”, and weighing about 160 pounds. He is 32-years-old. His last known location was on Jackson, Louisiana Road in Woodville.
Diaz, was originally charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle and was being housed at the Wilkinson Community Community Work Center.
Wilkinson County Sheriff Reginald Jackson asks citizens to stay inside and keep their doors locked until he is found. The sheriff advised not to leave their children alone at the bus stop and do not leave vehicles unlocked with keys in them.
Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Woodville Police Department, and the Angola Chase Team are all helping in the search for the inmate.
The Sheriff’s Department said that MDOC has agents checking areas on the coast where it is believed the inmate could possibly be headed.
