UPDATE: THURSDAY, 2:00 PM

On Wednesday, October 19th, Lafayette County deputies were called to an emergency domestic call.

Before deputies got there, they learned that a man was arguing with a woman at the home and the woman kept asking for the man to give her the gun.

When deputies arrived, they found the white female outside of the home and learned that her two teenage children, ages 19 and 16 were still inside of the home, barricaded in their rooms.

Deputies immediately began negotiating with the white male subject, asking him to let the kids go and for him to come outside with the weapon.

During the negotiation, the male subject pointed his gun at deputies, who then fired their weapons, striking the male subject.

Medical aid was immediately rendered, but the male subject died.

The children were removed from the house and taken to safety.

MBI is now handling the investigation.

The LCSO will not release any names until all family can be notified.
