The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Covington County Sheriff’s Department that happened on Saturday, January 20th, 2024.
Deputies were responding to a call for service at a house on Jack Flowers Road in Collins, Mississippi.
Upon arrival at the home, the subject began firing a weapon at the responding deputies, leading to an exchange of gunfire striking the subject.
The subject was transported to a local hospital.
Deputies did not receive any serious injuries during the incident.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
