A Marshall County deputy was injured when the driver of a maroon Dodge dually pickup truck ran from police Thursday.

According to the Byhalia Police Department, on Thursday around noon, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was in pursuit of a truck that entered into the city limits of Byhalia, from Hwy 309 North. Byhalia officers along with Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop stick the truck to end the pursuit.

The truck continued south on Hwy 309, when the vehicle then swerved and struck a Marshall County deputy’s vehicle, and went off road into the front lawn of Town Hall.

The vehicle then fled the scene headed south on Hwy 309, before turning eastbound on I-22, officials said. Marshall County continued the pursuit of the truck east on I-22, before the pursuit ended near the Marshall/Benton county line, when the vehicle caught on fire.

Marshall County was able to get the suspect into custody. One deputy was injured in the accident during the pursuit, and was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
