Manhunt Happening In Covington County As Sheriff’s Dept. Looks For Wanted, Handcuffed Man

A manhunt is happening in Covington County as the sheriff’s department looks for a wanted man from Lamar County. Antwan Loftin on NCIC as a wanted person.

WDAM reports that Sheriff Darrell Perkins said his office is moving from a manhunt to neighborhood patrols.  They are looking for the suspect in the Rock Hill and Gates Bridge communities near Sumrall.

The sheriff’s department said that residents need to remain alert and report suspicious activity to police.

Antwan Loftin is from Jefferson Davis County. He was last seen wearing a yellow jacket, black pants, and red shoes.

Yesterday, January 3, Loftin escaped arrest during a traffic stop on Lowery Road.

He ran from officers while still handcuffed.

Loftin has an outstanding warrant from Lamar County.
