On August 30, tupelo police were called to a report of a stolen vehicle on Maynard Drive.
The owner said that someone stole the vehicle out of their driveway.
Not long after this happened, the Verona Police Department noticed and stopped this stolen vehicle.
The individuals inside the vehicle were arrested on unrelated charges and transported to the Lee County Jail.
After further investigation, on September 26, 20-year-old Romero Hampton (from Tupelo) was taken into custody by the Tupelo Police Department and charged with Felony Taking of A Motor Vehicle.
On September 27, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Sumner set Hampton’s bond at $75,000. These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
