On May 9, officers with the Tupelo Police Department responded to Mike’s Pawn on West Main Street about a Burglary of a Commercial Building.

Upon arrival, officers cleared the business and spoke with the business owner. Officers were informed that two firearms were taken from the business.

On May 10, after further investigation, 37-year-old Lance M. Smith (from Tupelo) was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Commercial Building.

On May 10, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Smith to be held on a $35,000 bond.

Due to the business being a Federal Firearm Licensed Dealer, this case is also being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives with further charges pending at this time.
