Four people were arrested by Lowndes County during the course of a drug investigation.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics STING Unit arrested four people on charges connected to distribution of crystal methamphetamine last week.

The case stemmed from a two day operation through which varying quantities of methamphetamine were seized, leading agents to focus on a location that was being used for large quantity distribution of crystal methamphetamine.

On August 8, Agents were able to develop probable cause for a search warrant for the home of Jimmy Johns at 320 Eubanks Dr. in Columbus. During the execution of the search warrant, Phil Mann, 54, of Amory, Candace Holloway, 33, of Greenwood Springs, and Jimmy Johns, 39, of Columbus, were arrested. Mann, Holloway, and Johns were found in possession of methamphetamine.

The investigation to this point had resulted in the seizure of approximately 183 grams of methamphetamine, but after further investigation, Calvin Baskin, 54, of West Point, was also taken into custody and charged. Baskin was found to be in possession of approximately two pounds or 908 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

  • Mann was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and has been released on a $20,000.00 bond.
  • Holloway was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and has been released on a $10,000.00 bond.
  • Johns is charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), two counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) and is currently at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with a total bond of $95,000.00 bond.
  • Baskin is Currently at LCADC and is charged with Aggravated Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and has a bond of $250,000.00.
Both Baskin and Johns were on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections at the time of the arrests.

“When the suspects who live in this house were arrested, other people in the community approached the agents and thanked them for their professionalism, and for helping improve the quality of life in the area by getting rid of the illegal narcotics and those who deal in them. Hopefully we have rid Eubanks Road of this illegal activity. If not, we’ll be back,” said Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
