A Texas man was arrested in Pontotoc County earlier this week on drug and gun charges.
Officials say the Narcotics Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division was conducting daytime narcotics operations, patrolling Pontotoc County.
After observing a traffic violation, a deputy initiated a traffic stop. Deputies said a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana and a gun.
Travis Browning, 36, of Austin, Texas was arrested for Possession of a Firearm. Upon further investigation, the Major Case Unit of the CID charged him with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Additionally, $7,000 dollars in cash, four counterfeit Rolex watches and a Glock 43 9mm pistol were seized. Browning was booked in to the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department Adult Detention Center.
A Justice Court Judge set bond at $20,000.
