A Louisiana pastor allegedly shot himself and his wife in a McComb hotel Wednesday.

McComb Police Chief Juan Cloy said Pastor Danny Prenell of Alexandria, Louisiana, allegedly shot his wife Gabrielle twice in the Hampton Inn before turning the weapon on himself.

Prenell is the pastor at Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, according to the joint Facebook account shared by he and his wife.

The shootings took place in front of the couple’s three children, the chief said. They have now been taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.

Cloy said Danny Prenell is at Southwest Hospital in McComb and Gabrielle Prenell was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Cloy said at last check, Gabrielle Prenell was in critical condition and Danny Prenell is stable.

So far a motive or any surrounding circumstances have not been determined, the chief said.
