McComb police warn Kia and Hyundai owners after local man shot

McComb police are warning owners of Kia and Hyundai vehicles between the year model 2011 and 2020 they they may be a target for a car theft, just like a man who was shot over the weekend.

According to Police Chief Juan Cloy, on Saturday morning at 4am, Kenny Chester, 65, was shot once in the bicep area at his residence on Wall Street while two men attempted to steal his Kia Soul vehicle.

Officers encountered the suspects several minutes later at 1005 Herington St. attempting to steal another Kia. The suspects fled on foot and were  not apprehended.

Chester was treated and released. Police are presently unaware of the suspects identification and whereabouts.

Chief Cloy would like to advise the public that certain Kia and Hyundai model vehicles from 2011 to 2020 are being targeted. If you have any information, please call the McComb Police Dept. at 601-684-3213.
