The Lee County Sheriff’s Department was able to disarm a domestic violence suspect with a gun, according to a Sunday release.

Authorities say deputies responded to County Road 1149 in the Plantersville area for a domestic violence/ burglary complaint. Information was given that the suspect, Justin Darby, was armed with a gun.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Darby near the scene. At first, Darby would not comply with deputies as they attempted to bring the situation to an end peacefully. After a two-hour standoff, deputies were able to disarm Darby and take him into custody without any further incident.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department says further information will be released with charges against Darby pending the ongoing investigation.
