Jackson police have reported a fatal officer-involved shooting.

JPD public information officer Sam Brown said the shooting happened on Collier Avenue and Livingston Road.

According to Jackson Police Chief James Davis, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call, where they found a man firing shots at a woman.

Davis said an officer instructed the suspect to drop his weapon, but the suspect refused. The suspect then turned his weapon toward the officer, who fired shots at the suspect.

The suspect, who was identified as 38-year-old Tyrone Jones, died from his injuries at the scene.

The officer involved in the shooting was not injured.

The woman involved in the domestic disturbance was taken in for questioning.
