A body was found Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of Johnston Street, in what Jackson police are investigating as the city’s 36th homicide of the year.
Police say Shirley Johnson, 61, died after being shot in the head. The Hinds County Coroner’s Office told police Johnson had been dead several hours before her body was found.
Investigators are still gathering information on motive and/or suspect(s). This is an ongoing investigation.
