RAnkin County officials have confirmed that a female inmate died in custody over the weekend.

A release from Rankin County legal counsel and spokesman Paul Holley said that 37-year-old Toronda Euniece Scott of San Antonio, Texas, was found unresponsive in her cell. Authorities say lifesaving measures were begun immediately until paramedics arrived and took over.

CPR continued until finally Scott was pronounced dead.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was brought in on the case. RCSO is directing any questions to them.
