Jones County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant J.D. Carter and Sergeant Jeff Monk received information on a possible stolen vehicle at the Dollar General on Indian Sprigs Road in the Calhoun Community on Friday night.

Upon being approach by both JCSD units to the vehicle at Dollar General, the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

After a high speed pursuit involving multiple JCSD units, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Ellisville Police Department over the span of several miles, the stolen vehicle ran out of gas on MS Highway 588.

The driver, Daniel Perry, age 38, was wanted for Grand Larceny out of Jasper County. He has been charged by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department with Felony Fleeing, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Stolen Property. Daniel Perry is incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending his initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, “Daniel Perry is well known to Jones County law enforcement officers. His actions put at risk the lives of numerous civilians and law enforcement officers last night. Thankfully his run from justice came to a sputtering end and complete with a set of silver handcuffs and a handful of charges.”
