High Speed Chase Ends In Crash In Lowndes County With One Person Arrested

A man was arrested after a high-speed chase in Lowndes County Wednesday evening around 7 p.m.
  
According to authorities, a vehicle with no tag led deputies on a high-speed chase. Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics STING Unit initiated the chase near 18th Avenue and Military Road.
The chase ended in a head-on collision involving three vehicles and injuring one person.
The driver then ran from the crash site to the nearby Comfort Inn & Suites where he ran to the third floor before deputies caught up to him.
The driver was identified as 33-year-old Joshua Wilson of Columbus. Illegal drugs were found in the vehicle and now Wilson faces charges including no tag, felony fleeing, and felony possession of a controlled substance (THC edibles).
As a result of the accident, Wilson complained of a shoulder injury and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle where he was treated and released.
Wilson is currently in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting his initial appearance.
