Gulfport police search for teen wanted in drive-by shooting

Gulfport Police are looking for a 16-year-old male believed to be the shooter in a drive-by shooting nearly two weeks ago.

On August 26, 2021, at approximately 12:22 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 3900 block of Sierra Drive in reference to a Drive-by Shooting.

Through the course of the investigation, Detectives discovered the suspect, identified as John Fitzgerald Appleton Jr., discharged a firearm multiple times toward a group of people while in a moving vehicle. The shooting stemmed from an altercation that occurred earlier in the day. Appleton Jr. has an active felony warrant for his arrest and his bond was set at $150,000.

Appleton Jr. is described to Police Officers as a black male, approximately 6’04”, 170 lbs., with black hair, and brown eyes. Appleton Jr. was last seen occupying a green Honda sedan with front-end damage.
