The Jones County Sheriff’s Department has taken “Most Wanted” subject Lane Hamil into custody after he was captured by the Waynesboro Police Department overnight.

Hamil was wanted on a Bench Warrant issued by Jones County Circuit Court Judge Dal Williamson on a Failure To Appear charge In relation to an Accessory After The Fact – Grand Larceny charge.

A phone tip to JCSD Investigator Wesley Waites pinpointed Hamil’s location at a popular Waynesboro restaurant on Monday night. A quick call by Waites to Waynesboro Police Chief Holt Ross resulted in the capture of Hamil by Waynesboro PD officers at the restaurant. Hamil is the fourth JCSD “Most Wanted” subject captured in the last week.

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, “We greatly appreciate the efforts of the Waynesboro Police Department in effecting the capture of Lane Hamil. Cooperation between law enforcement agencies is critical when dealing with cross-jurisdictional arrests and Chief Holt Ross and his officers are awesome to work with.”

Lane Hamil is now incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending his appearance in Jones County Circuit Court on the Bench Warrant.
