Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin is announcing an arrest has been made in the murder of Wilson Earl Myrick, age 54 of the Matthews Community, earlier today.
JCSD investigators have arrested Cynthia Barnett, age 51 of Soso, and charged her with 1st Degree Murder. Barnett was reportedly the girlfriend of the murder victim.
“Our investigation has been a ‘all hands on deck’ effort today combining our investigators with investigators and crime scene analysts from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation,” notes Jones County SheriffJoe Berlin.
Sheriff Berlin adds, “We cannot say thanks enough to MBI and the other Jones County agencies who responded to the murder scene. We will now transition to preparing a case file for Jones County District Attorney Brad Thompson in the furtherance of the criminal justice system process.”
Barnett is incarcerated in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending her initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 2:00pm.
