Thirteen people were shot in two incidents in Clarksdale over the weekend, according to the Clarksdale Press Register.

At this time there are no fatalities, the local newspaper reported.

Clarksdale authorities told the Press Register that the first shootings were at the Delta Blues Alley Cafe around 2:45 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said there were two groups shooting at each other. More than a dozen were transported to the hospital from that scene.

The second shooting happened later on in the parking lot of B-Quick on Friars Point Road, where one person was shot, the Press Register reports.

“When units arrived, it was discovered that a large crowd had gathered in the 300 block of Delta Street when unknown subjects started shooting firearms,” the Clarksdale Police Department said in a press release. “There were a total of 13 people shot: Six females and seven males.”

The Press Register reports that there was a puddle of blood in front of their office just after the shootings.

There is a possibility that a shooting in Jonestown Monday morning that left two injured could be connected to the Clarksdale shootings, the newspaper reports.

“We are asking for the community’s help,” Linley told the Press Register. “People know things and saw things happen that will help us identify the people responsible for this.”
