The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Valentine’s day around 7 a.m.
According to the sheriff’s department, the shooting happened on Batson Road just outside of Petal.
Police responded and found a man who had been shot once time in one of his lower extremities.
Deputies immediately rendered medical aid until ambulance personnel arrived and transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation has led deputies to believe that the shooting resulted from a domestic dispute between the male and a female acquaintance.
Investigators are still awaiting medical clearance to interview the individual who was shot to determine what, if any, charges may be filed.
