UPDATE:

Gov. Haley Barbour is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, he is awake and alert.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Authorities confirm that former Gov. Haley Barbour was involved in a one vehicle accident in Yazoo County this evening.

At this point, details are scarce, but Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff confirmed that Gov. Barbour was driving his black BMW when he had an accident on Wolf Lake Road about a quarter of a mile from Hinds Grocery.

Sheriff said the Mississippi Highway Patrol is working the accident.

Currently, Barbour’s condition is not available.
