A former Flowood police officer has been arrested on an indictment for sex charges, officials said.
Flowood Police Chief Eric Zetterholm said Clarence Atkinson resigned from his job in Flowood in 2022 after police officials learned he was being investigated by state officials.
Last week, he was arrested on an indictment for two counts of sexual battery by a person in position of trust or authority.
Zetterholm said he is glad to see some movement in the case.
“I want to thank the Attorney General’s office for their hard work and support,” he said.
The case is being investigated by Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office. Zetterholm referred any further questions to the AG’s office.
