Daycare Director arrested for felony child abuse in Flowood.

Flowood daycare Director named Jennetta Morgan was arrested for Felony Child Abuse. The victim was 2-years-old.

According to the Flowood Police Department, on July 26 officers received an allegation of a Child Abuse case reported at the Circle of Friends Learning Center located on Luckney Road in Flowood.

The Flowood Detective Division investigated the incident and learned that the allegations about the director were true.

The day care’s director, 58-year-old Jennetta Morgan was arrested the next day. She was given a court date of August 11, 2022 and her bond was set at $100,000.00.

We spoke with the victim’s father, Chris Rast about what happened to his child.

Rast said that when his daughter got home from daycare, he noticed she had lacerations and bruising on the right side of her face, as well as bruises around her neck area and on the left side of her jawline. Rast said this led him to believe that somebody had grabbed her. He immediately notified the daycare’s owner to let her know what he saw, and she advised she would look into it in the morning.

The teacher called the father back the next day to explain what happened:

She said that his daughter scratched another child that afternoon, so she took her to the day care director, Janetta Morgan. Morgan then took his daughter into the bathroom and closed the door behind her where they stayed for a minute or two.

The teacher said that she noticed the 2-year-old’s face was red and she was crying when they came out of the bathroom.

Next, the child was in the kitchen area, and another employee noticed she wasn’t acting right, so she bent down to check on her. Morgan walked in and screamed at her that “we’re not going to do that again”.

The child laid down on the floor and Morgan took her into the laundry room and shut the door. The child began yelling, screaming, and crying so Morgan took her down the hall.

The child’s father stated,

“It tears you up inside. I got in this business to help people, to protect people. When we take our kids to daycare, we assume they’re in a safe haven and that’s not always the case. She was traumatized and tormented behind closed doors by someone that was put in trust over her.”

Rast said they had to take her to the pediatrician to have her checked and he and the nurse are doing statement.

“When you see bruises and scratches on a 2-year-old and people know they came from an adult, that impacts people.”

The father stated that he was thankful for the two employees who stood up for what was right and told the truth.
We will continue to bring you the latest on this story as it continues to develop.
