Gluckstadt police officers took fire while pursuing a stolen vehicle Thursday night, officials said.

Glugkstadt Police Chief Wendell Watts said officers were chasing the suspects in the stolen 2003 Honda Civic when they began to fire shots. One Gluckstadt officer returned fire, according to Watts.

The suspect vehicle wrecked on Galleria Parkway in Madison.

“I want to personally thank Chief Gene Waldrop and the Madison Police Department for the outstanding show of force and professionalism his officers displayed while assisting us in this dangerous incident,” Watts said. “Thanks also to Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, and Mississippi Game and Fish for also assisting with setting up perimeters, deploying canines, and assisting with the manhunt for the suspects.”

Multiple suspects are still on the run, and authorities ask that anyone with knowledge of this incident call the Gluckstadt Police Department at (769) 567-2888.
