Drug Roundup in Calhoun County Leads to Multiple Arrests; One Suspect Still at Large

Yesterday, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), conducted a significant drug roundup in Calhoun County.

This operation marks the culmination of an ongoing investigation that has spanned nearly a year.

The roundup resulted in six arrests, with authorities still on the lookout for one individual: Jalen Jamar Covington of CR 300, Pittsboro.

The Calhoun County Sheriff stated,

“The partnership that we have with MBN is vital to the citizens of Calhoun County. I appreciate the leadership of Major John Butts, Captain Brian Turner, and Agent Cory Alexander for their leadership and dedication to this operation,”

The Bruce Police Department and agents from Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control also assisted in the operation.

Arrested Individuals

The individuals arrested yesterday will have their initial appearances tomorrow, where bonds will be set. The following individuals were taken into custody:

  • Ishmael Stephens, 41, Bruce
  • Kelly Stone, 42, Calhoun City
  • Tyrone Corbitt, 53, Calhoun City
  • Terry Thompson, 67, Bruce
  • Robert “Shine” Parker, 61, Bruce
  • Redell McGuirt, 58, Bruce

Previous Arrests Related to the Investigation

Several other individuals were previously arrested as part of this same investigation for various reasons:

  • Billy Chandler Jr., 39, Calhoun City
  • Willie Frankie Jones, 53, Pittsboro
  • Sinatra Crawford, 41, Derma
  • Frankie T. Edmond, 46, Derma
  • Cameler Thomas, 49, Pittsboro

Wanted

  • Jalen Jamar Covington, 27, Pittsboro
