On March 24, at approximately 11:40 pm, Officer Sheppard with the Corinth Police Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle at Roger’s Supermarket for leaving the roadway.

Officer Sheppard observed an open bottle of an alcoholic beverage and identified the driver as Wilburn Lance Smith.

Smith had a warrant in Tennessee and was placed under arrest. Upon a search of his person, a small baggy of a crystal-like substance, 11 Xanax pills, and 12 lorazepam pills were found.

Wilburn Smith was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Felony, Open Container in an M/V, and False Information.

The felony will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanors will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
