Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods said a 16-year-old boy is dead after being stabbed by a 14-year-old girl during an argument about basketball.

Goods says D’Tavious Dorsey died last night.

Currently Touaneshia Hicks is in custody awaiting charges. Goods said police are trying to decide whether she should be charged as an adult or as a juvenile.

The sheriff’s department posted on Facebook last night asking that anyone with information “pertaining to the events that occurred on tonight” please contact officials. It then asks the public not to put details on social media.

Goods said today that police are still interviewing witnesses about what transpired during the incident, and that there could be additional arrests in the incident.

The Hermanville community is in the southeast part of the county.
