On Friday, March 22, Officers of the Byram Police Department responded to a home on Turtle Road regarding a shooting.

According to Byram Police Chief David Errington, when officers arrived, they found a white male with a single gunshot wound to the left thigh.

The victim was transported to UMMC Hospital by AMR to be treated for his injuries.

Through the course of the investigation detectives developed 42-year-old Peter James Hauck (AKA Pistol Pete) as the suspect.

He was arrested the next day in Rankin County with the help of Richland Police and Rankin County deputies.

Hauck is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center, on the charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.

Hauck will go before Byram Municipal Judge within the week for his initial appearance.

The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are pending
