According to the Natchez Democrat, a body was found in the trunk of a car Wednesday. The remains appear to be about a week old.
Authorities said the vehicle was just off U.S. 61 North on Cindy Lane.
WLBT reports that two persons of interest are now in custody.
The body was identified as 45-year-old Christopher Lee Sanders. According to police, family members of Christopher Sanders reported him missing from Vidalia Louisiana on April 4.
According to Sheriff Patten, it is unclear if this death was accidental or intentional. He said that because of the type of car this was, it wouldn’t have been possible to open the trunk from the inside but someone still could have climbed inside and closed it.
Sheriff Patten told the Natchez Democrat, “His body was not bound, tapped or gagged or anything of that nature. He was just lying in the trunk, deceased.”
Sheriff Patten said they have spoken with the family and their hearts and prayers go out to them.
Adams County Coroner James Lee told WLBT said the body was in an “advanced” state of decomposition.
Authorities impounded the vehicle. The body will be going to The State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
